Project Summary
The Crawford County Outer Road 44 bridge over the Little Bourbeuse River, east of Cuba, was built in 1966. Over the years, the bridge has begun to deteriorate and needs to be rehabilitated. The bridge will have a new deck, upgraded concrete barriers and new guardrail installed.
Project Progress
A project to replace the bridge is currently being designed by engineers with the Missouri Department of Transportation. The estimated cost for this work is $835,000 – subject to change.
A three-week public comment period starts Oct. 8, 2024. MoDOT plans to host an in person public meeting for this project in combination with 4 other upcoming bridge projects in the area. This meeting will take place on October 15, 2024 at the Bourbon Area Community Center located at 575 Elm St, Bourbon, MO 65441.
The project was part of MoDOT's February 2025 letting when contractors submitted competitive bids. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission award the $579,282.50 contract as part of their March 2025 meeting to E & C Bridge LLC.
After construction begins, the contractor will have approximately 70 calendar days to complete the project. At this time, construction is anticipated to start April 7, 2025, and be complete by June 6, 2025. Outer Road 44 over the Little Bourbeuse River will be closed for the duration of the work. Closing the bridge makes the road safer for our contractor and the drivers.
