JACKSON COUNTY - The Missouri Department of Transportation Kansas City (MoDOT KC) will host a public meeting for U.S. Route 50 between MO 7 and MO AA near Lake Lotawana and Lone Jack in Jackson County on Wednesday, Nov. 4, between 4-6 p.m. at the Lone Jack High School Cafeteria located at 313 S. Bynum Road Lone Jack, MO 64070.
The meeting will provide an opportunity for residents, businesses, commercial drivers and other interested members of the public to provide feedback on safety and operational improvements on U.S. Route 50 between MO 7 and MO AA near Lake Lotawana and Lone Jack, ask questions and identify areas of concern along the U.S. 50 corridor in general. This public input will help inform MoDOT as it evaluates potential improvements for a future project or projects in the area.
Improvements under consideration include J-turn intersections, outer road extensions, turn lanes, and other corridor safety enhancements.
The meeting will be an open house meeting with no formal presentation. Opportunities for public comment, displays, and exhibits will be available during and following the November meeting on the project webpage: U.S. Route 50 Safety and Operational Improvements in Jackson County | Missouri Department of Transportation. The public will continue to receive updates as the future project progresses.
If you need a reasonable accommodation or translation services to participate in this meeting, please contact MoDOT Kansas City District Communications at kccr@modot.mo.gov by Wednesday, October 28.

MoDOT has previously studied and constructed J-turn improvements at locations along U.S. 50 and is using previous studies and current evaluations to help identify additional areas for potential improvements. Additional public involvement opportunities will take place in November 2026, these open house events are designed to gather public input and feedback on future safety and operational improvements on the rural U.S. 50 corridor from Warrensburg, Knob Noster, La Monte and Sedalia. More information will be shared in the coming weeks about these open house events.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can also be short-term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
