HANNIBAL – Weather permitting, as early as August 17, widening and resurfacing work will begin on Missouri Route 47, between the Routes A/D intersection in Hawk Point and Lincoln Trail. While operations are in progress, one lane of traffic will be maintained on MO 47 as well as entrance access for local businesses and residents.
A 10-foot width restriction will be in place at the location where crews are actively working. Flaggers and a pilot car will be used to direct traffic through the work zone. Signs and message boards will be in place to alert motorists, as schedule changes occur. All work is weather-dependent and schedules are subject to change.
Additionally, another short-term closure is scheduled to begin as early as the week of August 24 on MO 47 near Hawk Point, weather permitting. This work will replace the crossroad box culvert located between the Kemper-Keim Family Funeral Chapel and Weber Outfitters businesses. During this time, the roadway will close for up to six days between Lincoln Trail and Farm Lane. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes to reach their destinations.
This work is part of a roadway widening project that will improve safety for motorists, and the overall condition and efficiency of the MO 47 corridor, between Routes A/D in Hawk Point to just west of Routes H/J in Troy. As the project moves forward, multiple culvert replacements are scheduled to upgrade entrances and at crossroad locations; temporary closures will be necessary at various locations to facilitate this work along the MO 47 corridor.
