Online Meeting Scheduled for Callaway County Route D Improvements

CALLAWAY COUNTY -- The Missouri Department of Transportation is holding an online meeting to share information about an upcoming project that will make improvements to the Callaway County Route D bridge and roadway over Interstate 70.

The Route D bridge and roadway is located approximately 2.3 miles southwest of Williamsburg. The bridge over I-70 was built in 1963 and is 56 years old. The condition of the bridge has reached a point where bridge replacement is necessary.

Construction is scheduled to take place in 2020. During construction, Route D will be closed at the bridge location for up to three months. There will also be an eight hour closure on I-70 for one night to remove the existing bridge. Signs will alert motorists of the closed roads.

The total project cost is an estimated $2.1 million.

The online meeting comment period will run from July 15 to July 29.
