Intermittent nighttime lane closures on I-70 in Boone County begin this week

Core drilling, shoulder strengthening between Route BB and Midway

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – One lane of Interstate 70 in Boone County is set to close intermittently during nighttime hours for the next two months as part of Improve I-70.

Core drilling and shoulder strengthening will take place between Boone County Route BB (Exit 115) and U.S. Route 40/Midway (Exit 121) from April 29 through the end of June. Construction crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation will close one lane of I-70 between 7 p.m. and 6 a.m., as needed.

MoDOT asks all motorists to work with us by buckling up, putting your phone down, obeying all traffic signs, and slowing down and moving over in work zones.

This work is part of Improve I-70: Rocheport to Columbia, one of three Improve I-70 projects underway in mid-Missouri, spanning Cooper, Boone, and Callaway counties.

Missouri’s FY2024 budget approved through the state legislative process and governor provides $2.8 billion in General Revenue to build a third lane of I-70 across the state. The program will plan, design, construct, reconstruct, rehabilitate, and add a third lane in each direction on nearly 200 miles of I-70, from Blue Springs to Wentzville.
