JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Following the successful demolition of the no-longer-used trileve bridge and portions of the Bolivar Street Bridge, U.S. Route 50 and several ramps in Jefferson City are now open ahead of schedule.
U.S. Route 50 and the ramps closed at 9 p.m. on April 10, 2026, and were expected to reopen at 9 p.m. on April 12, 2026, so construction crews working with the Missouri Department of Transportation could remove the deteriorating bridge (closed in 1991) and remove portions of the Bolivar Street Bridge which is undergoing rehabilitation.
MoDOT would like to remind the public that the Bolivar Street Bridge remains closed to ALL traffic, including motorized vehicles, pedestrians, bicycles and other modes of transporation. The bridge is expected to reopen to all traffic in early August.
All work is weather-permitting and subject to change.
MoDOT asks all motorists to work with us by buckling up, putting your phone down, obeying all traffic signs, and slowing down and moving over in work zones.
