JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Transportation is seeking community input on a project which will replace the Crawford County Route N over Meramec River bridge deck, southeast of Bourbon. Built in 1972, the supporting structures are in good condition, but the deck is in need of replacement. Replacing the bridge deck will require a full closure of Route N at the bridge, with a signed detour that will direct motorists to use Interstate 44 and Missouri Route 185. Construction is expected in 2027.
Public input is essential to help guide the design and construction process. There are multiple ways to comment, question and provide insight: in person, online, by email, and by mail.
The public is invited to attend an open-house style public meeting on Thursday, April 9, at the Bourbon Area Community Center, 575 Elm Street, in Bourbon. Visitors may stop by at any time between 4:30 and 6 p.m. to speak with project team members, view exhibits outlining the planned work, ask questions and leave comments. There will be no formal presentation. Meeting materials will also be available online. MoDOT is committed to providing equal access to this event for all participants. In addition to the public meeting, there will be a three-week open comment period running Feb. 26 – March 19, 2026. Input may be submitted online through a form on the project webpage (www.modot.org/projects/route-n-bridge-deck-replacement-over-meramec-river-crawford-county), emailed to CDCR@modot.mo.gov, or mailed to 1511 Missouri Boulevard, Jefferson City, MO, 65109. All comments must be received or postmarked by April 23, 2026.
