CLAY COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation Kansas City (MoDOT KC) will hold an open house style meeting to discuss intersection improvements at the intersection of Missouri Route D and U.S. Route 69 in Lawson, Missouri. Increased traffic volumes on both Route D and U.S. 69, especially during peak periods, are driving the need to improve traffic flow at the intersection.
The meeting will be held Thursday, October 9 from 4:00 pm until 6:30 pm at the Lawson City Hall located at 103 S Pennsylvania Ave., Lawson, MO 64062. The meeting will provide the opportunity for attendees to ask questions, learn more about the project, and leave a comment. This will be the second public meeting held regarding the project and will feature a proposed roundabout at the intersection. The first public meeting was held on March 27.
Roundabouts enhance safety by slowing traffic and eliminating left turn movements, which result in fewer severe and fatal collisions. They also provide more flexibility for providing access. After reviewing safety, public feedback, access to local businesses, and project scale, a roundabout is the preferred option.
The meeting will be an open house meeting with no formal presentation. Following the public meeting there will also be an opportunity to view project displays and exhibits and leave comments on the project webpage beginning at 4 pm on Thursday, October 9 until 4 pm on Thursday, October 23.
MoDOT is committed to providing access to this event for all participants. If you need a reasonable accommodation or translation services, please contact Kansas City District Communications at Kccr@modot.mo.gov by Thursday, September 18.
