Plans to Replace Two Bridges in Jasper County Focus of Virtual Public Meeting

Jasper County – The public is invited to a virtual (online) public meeting starting Monday, August 11, to learn more about plans to replace two (2) bridges in Jasper County, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

One bridge is on Route BB over Stony Branch northeast of Carthage, and the other is on Route H over Duval Creek west of Jasper.

The meeting will be available for two weeks from Monday, August 11 through Monday, August 25, and can be accessed at the project webpage here.

Beginning the spring of 2026, contractors will demolish the current bridges and replace them with new ones. Both new bridges will be slightly larger than the ones they’re replacing. In addition, contractor crews will add new barrier walls to either side of the bridges and new pavement striping.

he project’s estimated total cost is $3.2 million for the two (2) bridges.

The Route BB bridge was built in 1967 with approximately 620 vehicles a day crossing it. The Route H bridge was built in 1933 and has approximately 275 vehicles per day traveling over it. Both bridges are in a deteriorating condition in need of frequent maintenance.
