Purpose and Need
These two bridges were built in 1967 (Route BB) and 1933 (Route H) and are experiencing deterioration. These bridges need to be replaced to meet today's design standards.
Project Information
Contractor crews will replace these bridges with new bridges that will be longer, slightly higher and in the case of the Route H bridge, four (4) feet wider. In addition, the contractor will add barrier walls to each side of the bridges, permanent striping, guardrail on the Route BB bridge and object markers at the Route H bridge.

Plans to Replace Two Bridges in Jasper County Focus of Virtual Public Meeting
Jasper County – The public is invited to a virtual (online) public meeting starting Monday, August 11, to learn more about plans to replace two (2) bridges in Jasper County, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.
One bridge is on Route BB...
Frequently Asked Questions
Will there be any signed detours
Yes. For the Route BB bridge, drivers will be directed along Jasper County Route N, Missouri Route 37 and Missouri Route 96. On Route H, the detour will be along Missouri Route 43, Route M and Route O.
Will I be able to access my property on Route BB and Route H?
Yes. All driveways and field entrances will be accessible, however drivers will not be able to drive through the work zones when bridges have been demolished and the new bridges are under construction.
Will these bridges be closed simultaneously?
Likely, no. However, that will be up to the contractor’s schedule. Since these bridges are not on the same route, there is no reason from MoDOT’s perspective that they can’t be closed together.
How long will each bridge be closed?
Each bridge will be closed up to four (4) months for construction.
Why not have a temporary bridge alongside these bridges so the highways don’t have to be closed during construction?
To build a temporary bridge is expensive and no funds have been designated for that. In addition, the amount of traffic at these locations does not warrant a temporary bridge for this project.
Will MoDOT need to acquire any additional right of way for this project?
No. These bridges can be built within the existing right of way.
How much will this project cost?
It is estimated the cost of construction will be $1.6 million for each bridge.
