Public information meeting scheduled for Improve I-70 project from Boonville to Rocheport

Open House Public Information Meeting on July 21 in Boonville

JEFFERSON CITY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will host a public information meeting regarding the Improve I-70: Boonville to Rocheport project from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, July 21, in Boonville. This project is slated to be the fifth construction project in MoDOT’s Statewide Improve I-70 Program and will make improvements and add a third lane of travel in each direction to Interstate 70 in the 13-mile section between Missouri Route 5 in Boonville and the Lance Corporal Leon Deraps I-70 Missouri River (Rocheport) Bridge.

  • Monday, July 21, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Boonville High School Gymnasium located at 1 Pirate Drive, Boonville, MO 65233.

This meeting will highlight the basic design plans, construction phasing, basic schedule, and other detailed information about the project. Construction is expected to start in spring 2026 and be completed by approximately late 2027.

The open-house style meeting will provide the opportunity for nearby residents, businesses, and travelers to learn about and provide comments regarding the planned improvements. No formal presentation will be made. The public can come and go as they need anytime during the advertised hours. Engineers and staff from the Missouri Department of Transportation and the design consultant Burns & McDonnell will be on hand to answer questions.

Written comments may be submitted at the meeting. Those interested can also review materials and make comments on the project website beginning on Monday, July 21, at www.modot.org/improvei70/boonvillerocheport until Wednesday, Aug. 20.

MoDOT is committed to providing equal access to this event for all participants. If you need a reasonable accommodation or translation services, please contact Improve I-70 Communications Coordinator Lairyn McGregor at 816-607-2152 by Friday, July 11, so arrangements for those services can be made.

Missouri’s FY2024 budget from the General Assembly signed into law by the governor provides $2.8 billion in General Revenue for the costs to build a third lane of I-70 across the state. The program will plan, design, construct, reconstruct, rehabilitate, and add a third lane in each direction on nearly 200 miles of I-70, from Blue Springs to Wentzville.
