JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – With hundreds of projects across the 18 counties of MoDOT’s Central District, drivers may encounter some type of construction this year on many of the routes they use daily or during their summer travel. There is a new Construction Guide webpage (https://www.modot.org/2025-central-district-construction-guide) to help motorists plan. While the list is extensive, it does not include all locations a driver might encounter roadwork. Instead, this list focuses on projects being done by contractors where traffic will be impacted, and delays can be expected.
Most of the listed projects are taking care of the existing system, including projects that rehabilitate bridges, replace signals, improve intersections, and resurface roadways. To see the current active work zones for both MoDOT personnel and contractors, visit Traveler.modot.org. Make sure you click the 'Future Work Zones' layer on the left-hand menu to see work scheduled in the next seven days.
The work listed on the Construction Guide totals a nearly $1.8 billion investment in the region’s roads and bridges, as well as a substantial investment by the state legislature in the region as part of the Improve I-70 Program.
