JEFFERSON CITY, Mo – The Missouri Department of Transportation is seeking community feedback on 2026 plans to rehabilitate the Callaway County Route H bridge over the Middle River. Built in 1964, the supporting structures of the Middle River Bridge are in good condition, but the driving surface has deteriorated and needs to be replaced. Currently, the construction plans call for closing Route H at the bridge, with a signed detour.
Public input is essential to help guide the design and construction process, by commenting, questioning and providing insight during the in-person meeting and the three-week comment period.
The open-house style meeting is scheduled Thursday, May 29, at the at the Carrington Baptist Church located at 3301 State Hwy H, Fulton. Attendees may come and go as they please at any time from 4:30 to 6 p.m., as there will be no formal presentation. The project team will be on hand to answer questions, provide information, and receive input about the project. The meeting exhibits will also be made available online beginning May 22.
In addition to the public meeting, there will be a three-week comment period running May 22 – June 12. Input can be submitted online through a form on the project webpage, emailed to CDCR@modot.mo.gov, or mailed to Route H Bridge Deck Replacement over Middle River in Callaway County, c/o MoDOT, 1511 Missouri Boulevard, Jefferson City, MO, 65102. All comments must be received or postmarked by June 12.
