Nightly lane closures next week for northbound U.S. Route 63 in Columbia

Barrier placement and restriping ahead of traffic shift

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – In order to maintain two lanes of traffic during the widening of the median along U.S. Route 63 around the Boone County Route AC (Grindstone Parkway) interchange, northbound traffic will need to shift slightly with a temporary barricade between traffic and the median work.

Placing the barrier and restriping for the shifted traffic will require a closure of the passing lane on northbound U.S. Route 63, approximately 1 mile north and 1 mile south of Grindstone Parkway. To lessen the impact to motorists, this lane closure will occur at night beginning Monday, May 19, and continue throughout the week, 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night. Both lanes will reopen during daytime hours,

Once the shift is complete, both northbound lanes will be open, but will be narrowed to 10 feet wide, throughout the median widening portion of the project.

MoDOT contracted with Emery Sapp & Sons Inc. to complete this interchange improvement project. All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
