Closure scheduled on Route Y over I-70 near Emma for bridge replacement, April 21-Dec. 1, 2025

LAFAYETTE & SALINE COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation will be closing Route Y over Interstate 70 near Emma beginning Mon., April 21 for a bridge replacement. The project is scheduled to be completed by Dec. 1, 2025. All work is weather permitting.

Mon., April 21 from approximately 7 a.m. until Wed., April 23 at approximately 6 a.m.

  • Route Y will be closed over I-70 for bridge demolition.
  • I-70 EB and WB will be reduced to one lane; traffic will be diverted to the on and off ramps.
  • Motorists on Route Y will not be able to access the I-70 ramps and will be diverted to the outer roads.

Wed., April 23 from approximately 6 a.m. until Dec. 1, 2025

  • Route Y will be closed over I-70 for bridge replacement.
  • I-70 EB and WB will experience periodic lane closures.
  • The I-70 on and off ramps will be accessible.
  • Later in the project, the I-70 on and off ramps will be closed for ramp reconstruction.

This project is being funded through MoDOT’s  Statewide Transportation Improvement Program (STIP) but has been absorbed into the greater Statewide Improve I-70 Program which will  coordinate closely with other I-70 projects the across the state. The program will plan, design, construct, reconstruct, rehabilitate, and add a third lane in each direction on nearly 200 miles of I-70, from Blue Springs to Wentzville.
