Public Meeting to be Held for Sidewalk Improvements and Resurfacing Project in Mexico

HANNIBAL – Individuals are invited to a public informational meeting that will share information about a future project that will include resurfacing, signal work and sidewalk improvements at various locations in Mexico in Audrain County.  The public meeting is planned for Thursday, May 1, 2025, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at the Audrain County Courthouse at 101 N. Jefferson Street in Mexico, Missouri.

Details about the project, including a project schedule, will be shared at the meeting through displays and discussions with Missouri Department of Transportation engineers.  The meeting is open-house style, so there will be no formal presentation; attendees can attend anytime between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

The project is scheduled to be under contract in the winter of 2025 and will include resurfacing and sidewalk improvements at various locations on Business 54, Route J, Liberty Street, Missouri Route 15 and Missouri Route 22 in Mexico.  Sidewalk improvements are being completed as a part of MoDOT’s initiative to bring all MoDOT facilities into compliance with the current standards of the American’s with Disabilities Act (ADA).

The project will require easements and additional right-of-way. As the project progresses, various traffic impacts will be in place around the work zone, including temporary lane reductions and closures.  “We are looking forward to completing this project, as we work to improve our transportation system and make it more accessible to everyone,” said MoDOT Project Manager Brian Untiedt.

For those unable to attend the meeting in person, please visit the project website at https://www.modot.org/projects/business-route-54-route-j-missouri-route-15-and-missouri-route-22-sidewalkada-improvements to learn more or leave a comment. All displays and information provided at the public meeting will be posted on the project web page immediately following the meeting.
