JEFFERSON CITY, Mo – A project has been awarded and will be starting soon to improve the east side of the Boone County Route AC (Grindstone Parkway) and U.S. Route 63 interchange in Columbia. The project will address increased congestion in the area, improving safety for all roadway users and increasing accessibility for bicyclists and pedestrians. Improvements include redesigned on- and off-ramps for northbound U.S. Route 63 traffic, realignment of Lenoir Street, widening and realigning Grindstone Parkway/New Haven Road east of U.S. Route 63 and the addition of a traffic signal at the newly aligned Lenoir Street and New Haven Road.
The project will be phased, which will allow all routes and ramps to remain open during construction, but the roadways will intermittently narrow to one lane each direction and traffic patterns will change as the project progresses. Motorists should remain vigilant and pay attention to all traffic control devices.
Construction is expected to begin in early February with off-road work that will not impact drivers. Roadway work with traffic impacts is expected to begin in mid-March and continue through July 2026.
