MoDOT Holds Public Hearing to Discuss Proposed Projects in Poplar Bluff

Route PP/Township Line/Route 67

SIKESTON-The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold a public hearing from 4 to 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 19 to discuss intersection improvements at Route PP and Township Line Road. The meeting will also cover safety improvements to the Route 67 crossover at Township Line Road. The meeting will be held at the Poplar Bluff Chamber of Commerce office, located at 1111 West Pine in Poplar Bluff.

"Visitors can stop-by anytime between 4 and 6 p.m. to discuss the details of the project with a member of the project team and provide their comments," said Project Manager Jason Williams.

The proposed intersection improvements at Route PP and Township Line Road include constructing a four-leg roundabout to improve safety and help traffic flow more smoothly.

"After reviewing the options, we believe a four-leg roundabout is the best configuration for this location," said Williams.

He explained with this design there will be less impact to existing improvements surrounding the intersection and no impact to the gas pipeline along the south side of Route PP. In addition, construction time will be reduced, lessening the inconvenience to the traveling public.

"With fewer legs, the roundabout will also be easier to navigate once it is completed," he added.

Two options for the Route 67 crossover at Township Line Road will also be shared at the public meeting. The options included improving the alignment of the crossover to enhance both safety and efficiency.
