Briefing to Discuss Upcoming Bridge Project in New Madrid County

SIKESTON-The Missouri Department of Transportation will hold an open-house community briefing from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, July 9, to discuss an upcoming bridge project on Route H in New Madrid County. The briefing will be held at Matthews City Hall, located at 100 Main St.

"Visitors can stop-by anytime between 4 and 6 p.m. to discuss the details with a member of the project team and provide their comments," said Project Manager Eric Krapf.

The project will include replacing the Route H bridge over Otter Slough in New Madrid County. The new structure will be approximately 4 feet wider than the existing bridge and feature lower bridge rails to better accommodate agricultural equipment.

As the project is underway, the bridge will remain closed. Construction is expected to begin in early summer 2013, with completion in late summer 2013.
