JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Safety improvements are now complete at the intersection of U.S. Route 54 and Old Jefferson City Road/County Road 306 in Fulton. Contractor crews from Magruder Paving, LLC, have been working with the Missouri Department of Transportation since mid-July on the installation of acceleration and deceleration lanes and dedicated left-turn lanes. With the work complete, the new intersection opened to all traffic the morning of Friday, Sept. 27.
As part of these safety improvements, the crossover at the intersection was removed. Motorists are no longer able to cross U.S. Route 54 from Old Jefferson City Road to County Road 306. Left turns from either road onto U.S. Route 54 are also prohibited. Instead, motorists will use the nearest overpass – either Callaway County Route K or Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. The new acceleration and deceleration lanes added U.S. Route 54 help to facilitate these new traffic patterns.
