St. Joseph, Mo. – The Double-Decker Bridge on Interstate 229, along the west side of St. Joseph, is now open following its biannual bridge inspection. For the safety of drivers and crews from the Missouri Department of Transportation, the bridge and all ramps between U.S. Route 36 and Highland Avenue were closed Monday, Sept. 9, but were reopened ahead of schedule this afternoon, Thursday, Sept. 12.
During the week-long closure, MoDOT engineers inspected the bridge, maintenance crews completed general bridge and sign maintenance and electricians made lighting repairs.
