Cole County Route D to close for bridge deck replacement

North Moreau Creek Bridge scheduled to close for 60 days beginning Aug. 12

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo – The Cole County Route D bridge over North Moreau Creek is scheduled to close mid-August for a bridge deck replacement project. Construction crews, working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, will close the bridge to all traffic beginning the morning of Aug. 12.

Built in 1965, the supporting structures of the bridge are in good condition. However, the driving surface has deteriorated, is in poor condition, and needs to be replaced. The bridge is expected to reopen mid-October. By contract the bridge can be closed up to 60 days. Throughout the closure, a signed detour will be in place directing motorists to use U.S. Route 50, Missouri Route 179, and Cole County Route C.

At their February 2024 meeting, the Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded a $859,429.95 contract to Gene Haile Excavating, Inc. to complete this work. All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
