JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – Rehabilitation work on Callaway County Route H (Business U.S. 54) over U.S. Route 54 in Fulton is complete and all lanes of traffic are open as of July 10.
During construction, the overpass bridge was reduced to one lane with temporary traffic signals guiding motorists through the work zone. Rehabilitation work included deck repairs, a concrete overlay, and the application of a protective coating.
The contractor, Magruder Paving, LLC, will now begin work on intersection improvements at U.S. Route 54 and Old Jefferson City Road/County Road 306 in Fulton. This work includes:
- Installing dedicated left-turn lanes at Old Jefferson City Road/County Road 306.
- Pavement widening of U.S. Route 54 for the addition of acceleration and deceleration lanes.
- Removal of the crossover at the intersection.
Beginning Monday, July 15, this intersection will be closed throughout construction, which is expected to be completed in September. Traffic traveling westbound on U.S. Route 54 and turning onto Old Jefferson City Road will be routed to Route H and eastbound U.S. Route 54 traffic turning onto County Road 306 will be directed to use Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard.
All work is weather-permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
