Grant Funding Available for Proms, Graduation Lock-In Events

LEES SUMMIT – The Kansas City Coalition for Roadway Safety is offering grant funding to Kansas City Region local schools that hold student lock-in events for proms or high school graduations. Events must include a presentation or activity educating students on highway safety issues within their night’s agenda. Qualifying schools will receive $250 each to assist with event expenses such as location rental, food, or entertainment.

Events must promote traffic safety focusing on one or more of the State’s Show-Me-Zero categories: Occupant Protection, Distracted Driving, Speed and Aggressive Driving, and Impaired Driving, Teen Drivers, Older Drivers, and Pedestrians & Non-Motorized Users. During the event, in a main event area, you must display traffic safety brochures and/or run traffic safety videos. Other information and the form is available by visiting savemolives.com/mcrs/Kansas-City-Region. Schools should be in the following nine counties: Cass, Clay, Jackson, Johnson, Lafayette, Pettis, Platte, Ray and Saline.
