ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – Herzog Contracting Corp., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, is scheduled to begin an intersection improvement project on Thursday, March 7 on Buchanan County Route AC. This project is a part of the Governor’s Transportation Cost-Share Program and will widen and resurface a portion of Route AC and add turn lanes to and from Messanie Street.
The project will be done in two phases:
Phase 1: March 7 - April 10
Widen southbound Route AC and add turn lane from southbound Route AC to Messanie Street.
Widen Messanie Street and add turn lane to Route AC.
Phase 2: April 11 - May 14
- Widen northbound Route AC and add turn lane from northbound Route AC to Messanie Street.
- Resurfacing Route AC from Faraon Street to Mitchell Avenue.
During the project, the entrance of Messanie Street to/from Route AC will be closed. Traffic on Route AC will be reduced to one lane with flaggers guiding motorists through the work zone.
All work is expected take place Monday through Saturday from sunlight to sundown. A 10-foot width restriction will be in place daily. This project is scheduled to be completed by the end of May.
