Lane closure planned Wednesday, Thursday nights on eastbound I-44 in Phelps County

No access to Exit 189, limited access to Exits 186 and 195

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The right-hand (driving) lane of eastbound Interstate 44 will close overnight Wednesday and Thursday for pavement striping work. The left-hand (passing) lane will remain open, but Exit 189 (Route V) will be closed and access to Exits 186 (U.S. Route 63 in Rolla) and 195 (Route 68/8 in St. James) will be limited.  

The lane closure is needed to put down temporary pavement striping. The overnight closures of the eastbound driving lane of I-44 between Rolla and St. James will be on Wednesday, Feb. 7, and Thursday, Feb. 8, from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. both nights. The right-hand lane will be open during the day on Thursday. The overnight closures will restrict access at the following eastbound exits: 

  • Exit 186 – no access to eastbound I-44; ramp from eastbound I-44 open. 
  • Exit 189 – no access to or from eastbound I-44. 
  • Exit 195 – no access from eastbound I-44; ramp to eastbound I-44 open. 

All westbound exits in this area will remain open. 

All work is weather permitting, and schedules are subject to change.
