Public Meeting To Be Held for Missouri Route 79 Viaduct in Hannibal

HANNIBAL, MO – Individuals are invited to a public informational meeting that will share information about the bridge replacement project on Missouri Route 79 in Marion County.  The bridge over Bear Creek, Norfolk Southern Railroad and Warren Barrett Drive, located 0.4 miles north of Route T in Hannibal, will be replaced this year  The road will have to be closed for up to 180 days during construction of the project with the closure tentatively scheduled to begin in March. The meeting is planned for Thursday, January 25th, from 4:00-6:00 p.m. at the Missouri Department of Transportation, located at 1711 Highway 61 South in Hannibal. Details about the project, including a schedule and the closure, will be shared at the meeting through displays and discussions with Missouri Department of Transportation engineers and its contractor, KCI Construction Company.  The meeting is open-house style, so there will be no formal presentation; attendees can attend anytime between 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m.

“We encourage individuals to come and learn what will be taking place and ask questions,” said MoDOT Area Engineer Emily Edgar.  She said the new bridge will include ADA improvements consisting of a ten-feet wide shared use path to be utilized by both pedestrians and cyclists.
