Road Closure on 19th street west in Kearney for road work, NOW - Nov. 17

CLAY COUNTY – The Missouri Department of Transportation closed 19th street west of I-35 in Kearney. This closure is due to a cost share project on Nation Road that is not currently complete. All work is weather permitting. See below for details:

  • Crews closed 19th street west of the I-35 interchange NOW until approximately Friday, Nov. 17 at 12 p.m. to allow for completion of the roundabout at Nation Road. 19th street east of the interchange is open. Traffic can head east to Watson Road.  Access to on and off ramps at the I-35 interchange will be allowed.

This work is part a larger project, which is in partnership with the City of Kearney, MoDOT will construct a new interchange on I-35 at 19th Street (144th Street) approximately 1 mile south of Route 92. The new interchange will cross over I-35 and will include ramps to/from I-35. The improvements will also include bike lanes and accommodate pedestrians with trail and sidewalk. All work is weather permitting.

Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
