ST. JOSEPH, Mo. – In late April a section of Sullivan County Route T was closed at the East Locust Creek Bridge after a routine inspection identified bridge beam deterioration. The Missouri Department of Transportation evaluated the bridge and have determined that temporary repairs can be made.
Crews from MoDOT plan to begin repairs on the Route T bridge within the next two weeks and expect to reopen the roadway to all traffic in early June. During the continued closure motorists will need to use an alternate route.
The bridge, built in 1949, has been identified for replacement in the Northwest Bridge Bundle, a project which will replace or rehabilitate up to 34 poor condition bridges in north central Missouri. The bridge was originally optional, but has now been made a priority bridge that the Design-Build team must replace.
