SALINE COUNTY – Crews will be replacing the Route K/EE bridge over Interstate 70 beginning on Monday, May 1, and the project is scheduled to last until the end of September. This replacement will require the total closure of northbound and southbound Route K/EE over I-70 during this time. Additionally, I-70 will be reduced to one lane and diverted to the on and off ramps of Route EE/K beginning on Monday, May 1 at approximately 9 a.m. until Wednesday, May 3, at 6 am for bridge demolition. After the bridge removal, traffic on Route K/EE will have access to the I-70 ramps. The bridge will remain closed for the duration of the project. Eastbound and westbound I-70 traffic will be reduced to one lane at various times during the project. Motorists along Route K/EE will need to seek alternate routes during the closure. All work is weather permitting. Additional details about this project can be found here.
Motorists are reminded to slow down and pay attention while driving in work zones. Not all work zones look alike. Work zones can be moving operations, such as striping, patching or mowing. They can also be short term, temporary lane closures to make quick repairs or remove debris from the roadway.
