St. Louis Work Zones March 16-22

ST. LOUIS – Drivers who cross between Illinois and Missouri using Interstate 255 over the Mississippi River should prepare for various traffic switches and lane closures over the next two weeks.

Crews are preparing the roadway to move westbound traffic on the interstate to the eastbound bridge April 1. Two lanes of traffic in each direction will use the eastbound bridge when that shift is complete. Currently, one lane on eastbound I-255 across the bridge is closed around the clock through December. Other work includes:

  • Weekdays from now through April 1, 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., one lane closed westbound from Illinois across the bridge.
  • Weeknights from now through April 1, 6 p.m. to 5 a.m., two lanes closed eastbound starting at Telegraph and continuing across the bridge.

Drivers who use eastbound I-44 traveling near Route 66 State Park should consider alternate routes or be prepared for higher levels of congestion as crews close one eastbound lane around-the-clock beginning next week.

At 8 p.m. Monday, March 20, crews will close one eastbound lane on the interstate over the Meramec River near the Route 66 State Park around the clock for continuing bridge rehabilitation work over the river. This lane will remain closed through December.
