MoDOT: Glenstone Avenue Safety, Operational, Pedestrian, and Pavement Project

In Springfield Beginning the Week of March 6

Springfield, Greene County – Drivers can expect lane closings, narrow lanes and traffic shifts on Glenstone Avenue (Business 65/Greene County Route H) in Springfield when contractor crews resurface and install signal, intersection and sidewalk (ADA) improvements beginning the week of March 6, the Missouri Department of Transportation said.

Glenstone Avenue (Business 65/Greene County Route H) will receive a new asphalt driving surface between Stoneridge Street, north of Springfield to Nature Center Way south of U.S. Route 60 /James River Freeway in Springfield. Work will be done during nighttime hours.

Project improvements at various locations on Glenstone Avenue from Valley Water Mill Road to U.S. Route 60 /James River Freeway in Springfield include:

  • Signal improvements
  • Sidewalk (ADA) improvements
  • Intersection improvements
  • Installation of fiber optic cable
  • Improve safety and traffic operations by managing access

The project will also upgrade the sidewalk at Nature Center Way.

Traffic Impacts:

  • Nighttime lane closings on Glenstone Avenue (Business 65/Greene County Route H) at times
  • Narrowed lanes and traffic shifts on Glenstone Avenue at times
  • During the intersection work, turn lanes may be closed at times
  • Drivers will encounter flaggers where crews are working
  • Crews and equipment close to traffic in areas
  • During higher traffic volume times, expect occasional delays
  • No signed detour
  • Drivers may need to seek alternate routes to get to their destinations

Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule.

KCI Construction Co., St. Louis is doing the work for a low bid amount of $14.9 million.

The project is to be completed by December 1, 2024.
