Public Meeting To Be Held for New Interchange at Troy

US 61 and MO 47 will be first Diverging Diamond in MoDOT Northeast District

HANNIBAL, MO – The public is invited to an open-house style meeting on Thursday, November 3 at the Cuivre River Electric Cooperative Community Room in Troy between 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. to view displays and learn more about the upcoming replacement of the U.S. Highway 61 and Missouri Route 47 interchange in Troy.  The location of the meeting is 1112 E. Cherry Street, Troy, MO 63379.

“We are very excited to work with the community on building the first diverging diamond interchange in MoDOT’s Northeast District,” said Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Jeff Niemeyer.  “We had a favorable response from area residents who were introduced to this concept in 2019 during a public meeting,” Niemeyer said. Diverging diamond interchanges have gained popularity throughout the Country, as they allow higher traffic volumes to move more efficiently and quickly.  “While these have been constructed all over the state, especially in urban areas, the closest one to Troy is at I-70 and Mid-Rivers Mall in St. Peters,” Niemeyer explained.

MoDOT’s consultant, H.R. Green, will have their engineers who designed the interchange, along with MoDOT engineers overseeing the project, at the meeting, and all will be glad to share insight about the project.

“This is an open-house style meeting, so we encourage those interested to attend anytime between 4:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. at their convenience, as there will be no formal presentation,” Niemeyer added.

To learn more about the project, visit the project page at U.S. 61 and MO 47 Interchange at Troy | Missouri Department of Transportation (modot.org).  There is a simulation of how to use the diverging diamond interchange in Troy.

“We also encourage anyone interested in following the project to sign up for emails about the project at this link: Customer Service Signon (mo.gov),” Niemeyer added.

All displays and information provided at the public meeting will be posted on the project web page immediately following the meeting.
