Citizen's Advisory Committee Being Formed for Hannibal Expressway

HANNIBAL - Area residents and other individuals interested in participating in the Hannibal Expressway Citizens Advisory Committee (CAC) will have an opportunity to learn more about the planning and design process for this project, formerly known as the Hannibal Bypass.  MoDOT will hold the first CAC meeting on Monday, October 27th from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. at the Arch United Methodist Church, 56017 Ocean Wave Lane, just south of Hannibal on U.S. 61.

"The Hannibal Expressway has been identified as a priority transportation need for this area to alleviate congestion and keep traffic moving along U.S. 61.  The purpose of this committee is to provide another forum to share ideas about how we can improve the movement of people and goods through the Hannibal area in the future," explained MoDOT Northeast District Engineer Paula Gough.  "Committee members can bring new perspectives and ideas to the project team.   We look forward to working with area residents and businesses as we plan for this future major project," she continued.

The funding for construction of this project is not included in MoDOT's current five-year Statewide Transportation Improvement Program.  Those interested in serving on the CAC can sign up on-line at www.modot.org/northeast and click on the e-update section of the website, or they can attend the first meeting.

The first CAC meeting will be informational, but additional meetings will be held throughout next year.   MoDOT representatives will be available immediately following the meeting to answer questions.
