UPDATE - Work suspended at U.S. Route 24/65 south of Carrollton

Ramp from Route 10 to northbound U.S. Route 24/65 has reopened

ST. JOSEPH, Mo – Work has been temporarily suspended and the roadways fully reopened at the bridge on U.S. Route 24/65 over Missouri 10, Outer Road 24 and the Norfolk Southern Railroad. This includes reopening the adjacent ramp from Route 10 to northbound U.S. Route 24/65

The rehabilitation of the second of seven bridges included in a project on Carroll County U.S. Route 24 began yesterday, Aug. 18, around noon, but was suspended yesterday afternoon due to safety concerns with the planned flow of traffic. The Missouri Department of Transportation is working with the contractor, Capital Paving and Construction, LLC, in an effort to resolve the issues and develop a safer plan for both workers and motorists.

At this time, a new date has not been set for the lane closure on the bridge, with temporary traffic signals directing motorists through the work zone, and the full closure of the ramp.

When work resumes, crews will be working five days each week but the work zone and ramp closure will remain in place around-the-clock. Some work may be completed on Saturdays, if necessary.

The other bridges in the project are currently scheduled for the 2023 construction season. For more information about the bridges included in the project, visit www.modot.org/carroll-county-us-route-24-bridge-rehabilitations.

All work is weather dependent, and schedules are subject to change.
