Updated 2/16/2023: Two bridges complete, five to be rehabilitated in 2023
The expansion joints, driving surfaces and substructures of seven bridges along U.S. Route 24 in Carroll County are in need of rehabilitation.
Project Progress
MoDOT's Planning and Design team designed a project which will rehabilitate seven bridges in Carroll County along U.S. Route 24. The project will repair expansion joints, repair the substructure and replace the epoxy wearing surface on the bridges.
The projects to rehabilitate the seven bridges on Carroll County U.S. Route 24 were part of the April 2022 letting where contractors submitted competitive bids on the project bundle. The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded the $6,123,090.85 project to Capital Paving & Construction, Inc. at their May 2022 meeting. At that time they gave the contractor a July 5, 2022 Notice to Proceed. This is the earliest date the contractor could begin work.
COMPLETE:
- Missouri Route 10, Outer Road 24 and Norfolk Southern Bridge on U.S. Route 24/65 just south of Carrollton, Aug. 31 through Dec. 12, 2022.

The contractor is working with the railroads and MoDOT to determine the construction schedule for the two remaining bridges to be completed in 2023:
- U.S. Route 24 over BNSF Railroad just east of the U.S. Route 65 interchange
- U.S. Route 24 over Little Wakenda Creek east of Carrollton
