MoDOT to close I-55 near Reavis Barracks next weekend

ST. LOUIS – Drivers who use I-55 in St. Louis County should consider alternate routes, or allow themselves more driving time next weekend, as MoDOT will close the interstate to remove a pedestrian bridge north of Reavis Barracks.

Crews will close all lanes and ramps of I-55 in both directions between Reavis Barracks (Exit 199) and Bayless (Exit 201A) in St. Louis County to remove the bridge by 8 p.m. Friday, June 17.

Detours for the closure will be marked. The northbound detour uses Reavis Barracks, Lemay Ferry Road and Bayless to detour around the closure. Southbound I-55 will use Bayless/Weber, Gravois, Mackenzie and Reavis Barracks to detour around the closure.

Since the detour is on several signalized, non-interstate routes, drivers using these detours can expect trips to take significantly longer. Drivers from the south heading to destinations in north St. Louis City or County (such as the airport) may want to consider using I-270 as an alternate.

All lanes and ramps will reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, June 20
