Bridge Replacement Project to Begin Over South Wyaconda River on Route C in Scotland County

HANNIBAL – Weather permitting, June 27, work will begin on a bridge replacement project over the South Wyaconda River Bridge in Scotland County. The project is located on Route C, approximately four miles west of Brock.  The Missouri Highways and Transportation Commission awarded the contract to Bleigh Construction Company of Palmyra, Missouri earlier this year with a total cost of $1,043,218.

“The existing timber structured bridge at this location was built in 1936 and has remained closed since June 3 of 2020 when significant deterioration was found during a routine bridge inspection,"   said MoDOT Area Engineer Amy Crawford.

The project is estimated to be completed by early October. "This bridge carries an average of 70 vehicles per day and will be welcomed by area residents," added Crawford.
