Public Hearing Scheduled for Route 63/Grindstone Parkway Improvements

Online Public Hearing Available May 23-June 19

COLUMBIA – The Missouri Department of Transportation (MoDOT) will host a public hearing from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, June 9 at New Haven Elementary School, 3301 New Haven Road.

The open house-style hearing will provide the opportunity for nearby residents, businesses and travelers to learn about and provide comments regarding the interchange and roadway improvements to the interchange at U.S. Route 63 and Boone County Route AC (Grindstone Avenue)/New Haven Road.

Improvements currently being considered include: Expanding traffic capacity on the east side of the interchange, enhancing safety for all users, and improving access for pedestrians and bicyclists. The project will also include the removal of the commuter lot on the southeast corner of the interchange. Right of way and easements will be required for this project.

The project is currently scheduled to be awarded in early 2024. Construction is expected to be complete by spring 2025. The project is estimated to cost between $8-9 million.

Written and recorded oral statements and exhibits can be submitted at the hearing. People can also review materials and make comments on the project web page starting on May 23. All comments must be received by June 19.

The environmental documentation prepared by MoDOT will be available for public inspection. Copies are also available at the office of Machelle Watkins, District Engineer, MoDOT Central District, 1511 Missouri Boulevard in Jefferson City.
