MoDOT TRAFFIC ALERT: Glenstone Avenue Traffic Shift at U.S. Route 60 in Springfield

Beginning Thursday, January 13

What: Glenstone Avenue traffic shifted head-to-head in the southbound lanes between U.S. Route 60 and the Republic Road/Harvard Avenue intersection in Springfield

When: Early afternoon, Thursday, January 13

Details: Contractor crews to build the east side of the Glenstone Avenue roundabout as part of the U.S. Route 60 (James River Freeway)/Glenstone Avenue Interchange project. This phase of the project will take up to 2 months to complete.

Traffic Impacts:

  • Glenstone Avenue traffic shifted head-to-head in the southbound lanes between U.S. Route 60 and the Republic Road/Harvard Avenue intersection in Springfield
  • Glenstone Avenue to U.S. Route 60 ramps are open
  • Crews and equipment close to traffic
  • Drivers urged to find alternate routes
  • Electronic message boards located near the planned road work will alert drivers to any changes in the work schedule
  • Check MoDOT’s Traveler Information Map for road closings/traffic impacts

(Weather and/or construction delays will alter the work schedule)

Project Facts:

  • Add lane in Route 60 median in each direction between National Avenue & Route 65
  • Consolidate Glenstone and Republic ramps to eastbound Route 60 at Harvard Avenue, remove existing eastbound on-ramp near Nature Center Way
  • Build roundabout on Glenstone Avenue at intersection with Nature Center Way/Republic Road
  • Widen westbound Route 60 off ramp to Glenstone Avenue
  • Replace deteriorating pavement on eastbound Route 60 west of Route 65
  • All improvements can be made without needing additional property
  • U.S. Route 60 (James River Freeway)/Glenstone Avenue Interchange Project
