What: Southbound Glenstone Avenue to eastbound U.S. Route 60 on-ramp and intersection improvements at Republic Road and Harvard Avenue Intersection OPEN in Springfield

When: 10:15 a.m. Today, Friday, December 3

Details: Contractor crews paved the ramp and tied the new pavement to the Republic Road/Harvard Avenue intersection as part of the U.S. Route 60 (James River Freeway)/Glenstone Avenue Interchange project. The work that was to close the ramp for 10 days, was completed in five.

Traffic Impacts:

  • Southbound Glenstone Avenue to eastbound U.S. Route 60 on-ramp OPEN
  • New Harvard Avenue northbound lane OPEN at Republic Road/Harvard Avenue intersection to merge onto eastbound U.S. Route 60 using the newly paved on-ramp
  • New Harvard Avenue right turn lane to eastbound Republic Road open at the Republic Road/Harvard Avenue intersection
  • New eastbound Republic Road left turn lane OPEN at Republic Road/Harvard Avenue intersection to merge onto eastbound U.S. Route 60 using the newly paved on-ramp

Project Facts:

  • Add lane in Route 60 median in each direction between National Avenue & Route 65
  • Consolidate Glenstone and Republic ramps to eastbound Route 60 at Harvard Avenue, remove existing eastbound on ramp near Nature Center Way
  • Build roundabout on Glenstone Avenue at intersection with Nature Center Way/Republic Road
  • Widen westbound Route 60 off ramp to Glenstone Avenue
  • Replace deteriorating pavement on eastbound Route 60 west of Route 65
  • All improvements can be made without needing additional property
  • U.S. Route 60 (James River Freeway)/Glenstone Avenue Interchange Project
