Bridge Project on U.S. Route 54 at West Fork Cuivre River Set to Begin in Audrain County

MACON – Weather permitting, Monday, July 12, crews will begin work on the bridge deck rehabilitation project on U.S. 54 at West Fork Cuivre River, located one mile east of Audrain County Route B. Emery Sapp & Son, of Columbia, Missouri, was awarded the project in the amount of $736,988. The contractor has 110 days to complete the project.

Traffic will remain open to one lane on U.S. 54 with temporary traffic signals being used to guide motorists through the work zone while this project is completed. To allow safe travel through the work zone, CRD 725 will be temporarily closed for the duration of the project.

“This bridge underwent a rehab in 1992, but due to the amount of traffic that travels across the bridge each day, it is now in need of a deck replacement,” said Missouri Department of Transportation Area Engineer Brian Untiedt. “New guardrail will also be added to improve safety,” he added.

Crews will begin setting signs to notify motorists of the upcoming work.

This bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
