Route K Black River Bridge in Reynolds County Reopens Ahead of Schedule

SIKESTON-The first of 17 bridges to be improved through the Missouri Department of Transportation’s Bootheel Bridge Bundle design-build project reopened to traffic today—10 days ahead of schedule. The Route K bridge over the Black River in Reynolds County closed to traffic Feb. 24 to replace the concrete deck.

The rehabilitated Route K bridge features a wider roadway and new concrete bridge barriers.

Crews from Robertson Contractors will remain onsite to complete minor repairs and final upgrades. This work may result in minor impacts to traffic, such as periodic lane closures.

This bridge is included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state. A total of 13 Focus bridges will be addressed through the Bootheel Bridge Bundle.

Completion of the Bootheel Bridge Bundle design-build project is anticipated on or before Dec. 31, 2023. The design-build project website is available at https://www.modot.org/bootheel-bridge-bundle.
