Project Background:

  • I-44 Project Bridge Rebuild replaced or rehabilitated a total of 19 bridges on I-44 between Sarcoxie and Halltown
  • Some bridges were original to the construction of I-44 in the 1960s and were deteriorating and needed replacement or rehabilitation
  • Total project cost: $36 million
  • Overall completion date: Dec. 15, 2021. However, the contractor set a goal to have all major bridge work complete by the end of 2020. Today’s opening of all lanes to normal traffic is six weeks ahead of that goal.
