Nodaway County Route 46 bridge replacements underway

Big Slough Creek and Stream bridges to close next week

MARYVILLE, Mo. – A project to replace four bridges on Route 46 west of Maryville (Big Slough Bridge, Florida Creek Bridge, Stream Bridge, and White Cloud Creek Bridge) is underway. These bridges are included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state. Contractors from Boone Construction Co., working with the Missouri Department of Transportation, plan to close both the Big Slough Creek and Stream bridges, located east of Route AB, on Monday, July 27.

Replacement of the Stream Bridge is expected to be completed in late September, while the Big Slough Creek Bridge is planned to finish up in December. The White Cloud Creek Bridge, east of Route AB, was closed earlier this month and is expected to be completed in early October.

Once work on the White Cloud Creek Bridge nears completion, crews will then close and begin the replacement of the Florida Creek Bridge, also located east of Route AB. Route 46 will be closed both east and west of Route AB throughout the project.

During the replacement of all four bridges, motorists should utilize the signed detour on U.S. Route 71, U.S. Route 136, and Route 113 or AB to travel around the closures. Drivers are urged to stay alert and pay attention to all roadway signing and barricades.
