Route T Bridge in Adair County Load Posting to Change

MACON – Adair County Route T over the North Fork Salt River, approximately 4.3 miles east of U.S. Route 63, will have a new lower load posting in the upcoming weeks.  MoDOT Northeast District Engineer Paula Gough said non-compliance of the current posted reduction on speed while crossing the bridge prompted a re-evaluation of the bridge condition and posting.

“During a recent on-site review of the bridge, additional deterioration on the deck was observed,” said Gough. Further deterioration may cause a further reduction in the load posting of the structure.

Currently the bridge is posted for trucks over 14 tons to reduce speed to 15 mph while crossing the bridge.  The new posting will still require trucks over 14 tons to reduce their speed to 15 mph while crossing the bridge except for single unit trucks they will have a weight limit of 18 tons and all other trucks will have a weight limit of 34 tons.

The bridge posting is effective when the road signs are installed.
