Two County, Two Bridge Replacement Project to Begin Monday

GASCONADE/OSAGE COUNTY – Two 65-year-old bridges in need of replacement will require the closure of two roadways in Gasconade and Osage Counties in the coming months.

A contractor working for the Missouri Department of Transportation will begin replacing the Gasconade County Route A bridge over Third Creek, south of Mount Sterling, on Monday, May 18. The bridge will be closed to traffic for up to three months while the work takes place.

Once the Third Creek bridge has been replaced, crews will begin to replace the Osage County Route D bridge over Mistaken Creek, west of Cooper Hill. More information will be available regarding the Mistaken Creek bridge replacement and closure closer to its start date.

The bridges will not be closed at the same time. Motorists will be able to utilize Osage County Route D as a detour route during the replacement of the Third Creek bridge. MoDOT says they appreciate the patience of motorists while this work takes place.

Both bridges are included in Gov. Mike Parson’s $351 million Focus on Bridges program, which will repair or replace 250 bridges across the state.
