Construction to Begin on Route JJ Bridge in Montgomery County

HANNIBAL – Construction of a new Route JJ bridge over Price’s Branch in Montgomery County will begin the week of November 11, weather permitting.

The bridge has been closed since January 3, 2019, when significant deterioration was discovered during a routine inspection.

“The new bridge will be 24 feet wide, and it will be opened by May 20, 2020, but hopefully sooner, weather permitting,” said MoDOT Area Engineer Erik Maninga.

The contractor performing the work is E & C Bridge, LLC, of California, Missouri. The Route JJ bridge replacement will cost just over half a million dollars.

The new bridge is part of Gov. Mike Parson’s Focus on Bridges program, which was passed by the Missouri General Assembly during its 2019 session. The program appropriated $50 million in state general revenue to fund 45 high-priority bridge projects throughout the state.
