Two Route 63 Bridge Rehabilitations Begin Next Week

BOONE COUNTY – Rehabilitation work was completed yesterday on the U.S. Route 63 northbound bridge over Gans Creek, south of Columbia, and on the Route 63 northbound bridge over the Katy Trail, north of Jefferson City.

Seven Route 63 bridges in Boone and Callaway Counties have been identified for rehabilitation between 2019 and 2020. Four of the bridge projects are complete, and the next two bridge rehabilitations will begin next week. The rehabilitation work helps extend the life of the bridges.

Starting the morning of Monday, October 21, work will begin on the northbound Route 63 bridge over Turkey Creek, north of Ashland, and the southbound Route 63 bridge over Gans Creek, south of Columbia. Both of these bridges will have one lane closed to traffic during construction.

Motorists will need to slow down, pay attention and follow signs in the work zones. Both bridges will be completed in November.

These projects are weather permitting and may be delayed.
