MoDOT to Close Route 47 Missouri River Bridge Overnight February 27-March 1

Intermittent Closures to Set Girders for New Bridge

ST. LOUIS – Construction continues on the new Route 47 Missouri River bridge in Washington. Crews will be closing the existing Route 47 Missouri River Bridge intermittently overnight next week to set girders for the new bridge.

The bridge will be closed for up to 30 minutes at a time up to three times a night Tuesday, February 27 through Thursday, March 1 from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. All work is weather permitting.

Motorists should also be aware that the girders will be arriving earlier in the week and will be stored along Route 47 between the Missouri River and Third Street and near Steutermann Road/Bieker Road. Please use caution when driving past the girders.

The new Route 47 Missouri River Bridge is being built just upstream from the current bridge. It will have two 12-foot lanes and 10-foot shoulders, as well as a 10-foot protected bike/pedestrian path. The $63 million project was awarded to Alberici in June 2016. The new bridge is expected to open in late 2018 and the old bridge will be demolished in early 2019.
